1 Safety is a Shared Responsibility!
Who wouldn’t… stop this little guy in the act?

2 So why not stop these guys and give them a friendly reminder?
When you see some one at Risk… Step in at once! -Explain the hazard & rules, -Let them know that you care about their safety -Remind them their loved ones are counting on them to work safely and make it home tonight. -We Are OUR BROTHERS’ KEEPER!!! Stand Up and Speak Out for Safety! If it was your son or daughter, you’d want someone to speak up, right?

3 Who is watching our for these two guys?
If you see it – You OWN IT! Speak up/Step in! If you ever see an at-risk behavior or unsafe condition and walk by… you are CONDONING IT! And that is: UACCEPTABLE!

4 Safety its My Job and Yours Too!
Worker safety is a critical element of everyone’s job! Each worker is responsible for working safely and ensuring co-workers do the same! Avoid the Curse of Knowledge – which is assuming others know what you know! When you see an unsafe condition correct it or notify a supervisor immediately – ensure the rest of the crew is also notified, if the problem will take a while to correct.

5 Safety its My Job and Yours Too!
If you see somebody doing something unsafe – intervene in a friendly manner to reduce the potential for injury. Supervisors are responsible for enforcing safety rules and procedures Let’s all watch out for each others safety! By working together we can get everyone home at the end of their shift I got your back – do you have mine?

6 Training that is ineffective or misunderstood put us all at risk!
Looks like there was a Lack of Training or material Presented was unclear… Never ASSUME Trainers: Make sure employees get it by testing for comprehension or asking appropriate questions! Trainees: If ever Unsure, ASK!!

7 Group Complacency – When we all think alike – Nobody is thinking!!
Remember you may be the only one with the knowledge and/or experience to recognize the hazard. Speak up or you could be letting the whole team down.

8 PPE can only protect you if you wear it properly and maintain it
PPE can only protect you if you wear it properly and maintain it. Remember to inspect it regularly -- it is your last line of defense!

9 It is a Big Deal Never use drink bottles (Gatorade, Coke, water, etc.)
for chemicals, On or Off the job WITHOUT CLEARLY MARKING THEM FIRST! And remember, small children who can’t read with think it is a beverage!

10 Be careful during periods of flooding – the life you save may be your own!

Tips 4 Use: Keep the feedback POSITIVE After the observation, share findings with person you observed First cover what worker/crew is doing right! Then, address the areas of concern and workers can mitigate the risk(s) Use each JSO as an mentoring opportunity… as a teaching moment!
