Evaluation Opportunities The internal evaluator, Dr. Hilarie B. Davis of TLC Inc., is using a mixed methods approach (Frechtling, 2010). IRB Review complete – exempt status Pilot study on Spotlite videos completed and data used to refine model Livebinder units reviewed; suggested changes are being made 13 teachers in pilot group (10 science teachers, 3 digital media teachers); 4 Spotlite topics in beta testing by science teachers; 8 Spotlite topics in production by digital media students; 75 students have taken a pre- assessment. Continue to leverage SMD initiatives to include researchers in outreach. Expanding # of districts, teachers and students working with the NASA eClips 4D team in the development of Spotlite videos to correct common science misconceptions. Exploring additional dissemination and collaboration partnerships with professional organizations (i.e., VCEC, VTEEA, ITEEA) Support local public libraries by providing outreach around 2017 eclipse Risks/Areas of Concern Measureable Achievement/Accomplishments Continue to see the need to expand number of schools working on the “Science By Students For Students” Spotlite videos. Plan to have 2-4 more school districts, including a rural district, engaged by the summer. Filmed SMEs for the NASA eClips video segment on Engineering Design to Support Science Discovery; final cut under review; resource alignment in progress. NASA eClips 4D Workshop presentation at Virginia Children’s Engineering Convention Feb. 9-10, Roanoke, VA; hands-on activities with teachers demonstrating best practices in science education; approx. 30 teachers. Scheduled February and March dates to deliver PD to the pilot groups on effective use of NASA eClips resources in the classroom. Delivered PD to pilot group on creating lessons plans using interactive Frayer model utilizing student-created Spotlite videos. Introduced to a new set of students at partner school districts to the Spotlite video design challenge. A new group of digital media students edited 5 draft SME2 videos; review in progress; will be added to CISE website. Identified NASA eClips topics and 50% of Spotlite topics for 2017. Stephanie Milam (Astrochemistry): Deputy Project Scientist for Planetary Science on the JWST  Begone Vila: Systems Engineer Lead for 2 Instruments on board the JWST or  JWST Instrument Systems Engineer
