5. Assessment – Academic Year 2016-2017 : Writing Portfolio – Rationale- Why?
The CTE Unit has been studying the idea of including a writing portfolio in the assessment of the writing skills due to the following reasons:
Internal Aims:
To encourage students to focus on developing the writing skill from the outset of the English course not just right before the writing assessments,
To reduce students’ reliance on memorizing ready-made pieces of writing before the writing assessments,
Students will take the responsibility for their own learning and progress;
Will enable ELC teachers to monitor the development of their students' writing skill throughout the whole semester;
