3 NC Security Deposit Law
Security deposit must be refunded – or a written accounting of how the deposit was used must be provided -- within 30 days of the end of the tenancy Deposit can only be used to cover damage done to the rental unit, unpaid rent, cost of re-renting a unit if tenant breaches the lease and some utility bills Amount withheld cannot exceed landlord’s actual damages

4 Rental Company Issues Communicate with your landlord: Payment:
In a civil and timely manner, If you have a question, In advance if you have to make a late payment, If there is a problem with the rental property Take responsibility if you have violated a policy Payment: Use checks Financial aid can be applied to off-campus rent Be aware of: Reserved right of entry Late fees for late payment Do not renew lease list Landlords know that you may make mistakes. They are more likely to work well with you if you tell the truth and take responsibility, instead of lying.
