1 Configuration Management and Layout Database ELENA Project
T. Birtwistle (EN/MEF/DC) – 21st May 2015

2 Contents Configuration and Layout Overview
Basics of the Layout Database Current status of ELENA in the database Future layout updates Product Breakdown Structure (PBS) data

3 Configuration and Layout Overview
Consistency between information sources Survey Integration Optics (MADX) Layout Hardware Baseline (PBS) Items and Assets

4 Layout Database Basics
Stores the sequence (layout) of accelerator and transfer line components: Equipment types and details Functional positions for mechanical and electrical layouts Asset names – layout can display information from MTF Updated as a result of ECRs Accessible to all CERN users

5 Navigator tree with functional position names – logically ordered
Position relative to a defined origin Equipment type and description from naming service Equipment dimensions Links to other information databases Drawing and documentation links

6 Current status of ELENA in the Database
Currently only the main optics elements in the ring are registered: Equipment types and functional positions Middle points along the beam line (checked against layout drawings) Some links to drawings and EDMS items (magnets)

7 Future updates Start and end points along the beam path to be added for each component (mechanical lengths) – information from integration models and drawings. Vacuum information to be added with the assistance of TE-VSC: Chambers with start/end points. Location of interface points for instrumentation and pumps. Aperture information. *example from LHC

8 Future updates Functional positions to be added for supports (?).
Electrical circuit information to be added, when well defined, with the help of TE-MSC and TE-EPC: Creates a link between magnets and power converters. Converters are extracted from the TE-EPC database, and linked to the relevant magnets using appropriately named circuits. Linking of drawings to equipment types for easy navigation to be completed. Transfer line information to be added where well enough defined (LNI, LNS, LNE).

9 Future updates A baseline to be set for the ELENA Ring (v.1.0 of the layout). Containing electrical circuits (~1 month) Vacuum detailed layout (~ weeks) Transfer lines to come later. Mechanical layouts (AD_LM___%) will have to be handled in parallel to the database. At the same time. After base-lining, any changes must be handled with ECRs (to ensure full impact analysis).

10 Additional information
Various reports can be extracted from the Layout Database if needed. Optics data once the layout is fully complete – functionality needs to be set up with BE-CO and BE-ABP. Survey target point positions can be added if needed (?). *example from PSB

11 Product Breakdown Structure Data
PBS (Hardware Baseline) structure exists in EDMS and is well populated with documents. Need to create ‘Items’ for all equipment and link them to the PBS. After this, ‘Assets’ can be created for each occurrence of a particular equipment type. See TE-MSC items as an example. Non conformities and test reports should be linked to assets, derived from items. Other document types (e.g. Hardware Commissioning procedures, operational procedures, maintenance procedures etc…) can be linked to the PBS, either in items or assets (?).
