Most geologists believe that the famous White Cliffs of Dover were once under water. Why?
They are composed mostly of foraminiferan tests. Since these marine zooplankton create extensive deposits on the ocean floor, it is reasonable to assume that the cliffs were once on the ocean floor as well.
