3. The Matryoshka is a wooden doll in a colourful sundress which is called sarafan.
She has a round face with rosy cheeks, black eyebrows and eyelashes. She has a red kerchief on her head. She is a symbol of the beauty of Russian girls and kindness.
If you pull it apart you’ll see smaller dolls inside.They are her children.Matryoshka means the old Russian name Matryona which means “mother”. Matryoshka is the symbol of the happy family and motherhood.
Matryoshka was shown in an exhibition in Paris and got a medal and worldwide acclaim.

Khokhloma is a Russian folk trade. It originates in district of Nizhniy Novgorod.Five colors are used( red, black, gold, green and yellow). Basic elements of khokhloma are red berries, flowers, branches and birds.
Spoons, cups, small boxes, dishes and trays are very popular.
This painting became the visiting- card of Russia in the world.
On the foreign exhibitions khokhloma gets high rewards.
All the tourists from different countries buy a khokhloma souvenir.

Samovars may be different colours. Samovar was in every house. The richer the man is - the more beautiful samovar. In Russia it was a shame to lay a table without samovar. It is a symbol of Russian culture and a Russian man who lived in the past.
