2. Types of Rainforest Tropical Temperate
All tropical rainforests are located along the equator
Has many trees.
Lots of plant and animal life.
Temperate rainforests can be located anywhere in the world.
Scarce to few trees.
Little to no plant or animal life.

3. Rainforest Layers Emergent Layer Canopy Layer Understory Layer
Has tallest trees approximately 200 feet above the forest floor
Plenty of sunlight
Monkeys, bats, butterflies and eagles are the animals found here
Canopy Layer
Shelters the two layers below
Most animals live here
Understory Layer
Receives little sunshine
Many insects and animals such as jaguars
Forest Floor
Very Dark, with little to no sunlight
Plants and animals decay quickly in this layer

4. Location Climate Very hot and humid
Located among the equator where the sun’s rays are direct
Rainforests are on 5 of the 7 continents
Very hot and humid
Average rainfall per year is 80 inches
Temperature never goes below 65 degrees

5. Amazon Rainforest
The largest rainforest in the world is the Amazon Rainforest.
Measures to be approximately 5 and a half million square kilometers.
Protection of the Amazon Rainforest creates the deforestation rate to reduce.
Home to 10% of the world’s species.

6. Project Summary
I chose to do my project on rainforests because I have always enjoyed learning about different climate zones and locations I am unfamiliar with. The things I most liked about this project was researching where rainforests are most located, what types of animals are there, and various things among a rainforest. The most interesting fact I learned was that there is even a rainforest in Antarctica. From this project I have learned all the factors and details that make up a rainforest.
