as the angel Gabriel greeted her

4 Hail Mary, full of grace We acknowledge that she is filled
with god’s grace: She is sinless and faith-filled

5 The Lord is with thee. Again, we use the angel’s words to mary
to call to mind how delightful her sinless soul is to god.

6 Blessed are you among women.
Here we repeat Elizabeth’s greeting to mary As we affirm the truth: mary has been especially blessed.

7 Blessed is the fruit of your womb: Jesus.

8 Mary, being full of grace, is holy.
Holy Mary, Mary, being full of grace, is holy.

9 Mary gave birth to jesus, the second person of the trinity – god.
Mother of God, Mary gave birth to jesus, the second person of the trinity – god.

10 We ask our friends to pray for us. Why not ask Mary as well?
Pray for us sinners We ask our friends to pray for us. Why not ask Mary as well?

11 Now and at the hour of our death.
What is there but the present moment (now) and the hour of our death?

12 Beautiful. Simple. Powerful.
The beautiful prayer “Hail Mary” is rooted in scripture – the angel’s words to Mary and Elizabeth’s greeting to Mary – where we affirm truth and ask her to pray for us. Beautiful. Simple. Powerful.
