Meetings: June 7: Workshop on Developing Processing Infrastructure and Supporting End Markets for Food and Organic Waste September 14: Proposed Elements of Ontario’s Food and Organic Waste Framework June 7: Workshop Format: Invited speakers as well as the Stakeholder Working Group Presentations & Table/Panel Discussions on: Overview of the Food & Organic Waste Framework (Wendy), Overall Context for Processing Infrastructure (MOECC), Processing Facility Data (OWMA), Processing Methods (CCC< Cdn Biogas Assn, Rothsay, ON Env Ind Assn, RPWCO), Facilitating Environmental Approvals (MOECC), Overall Context for End Markets ( MOECC), Healthy Soils (OMAFRA, CCC), AD/RNG/Rendering (ON Env Ind Assn, CDN Biogas Assn, Enbridge, Rothsay), End Markets: Barriers to End Market Development & Sustainable End Markets ( RPWCO, OWMA), Climate Change Linkages (MOECC) Public documents are posted on the MWA website, AMO Portal & the CCC website Sept. 14: Stakeholders only 34 proposed actions/policies Presentations by MOECC on: Discussion Paper EBR Comments (posted in July), Overview of Framework – Linkages, Vision, & Outcomes, Prevent and Reduce Food Waste, Increase Diversion, Support Processing Infrastructure, Promote End Uses, Implementation Proposed Timelines: Nov/Dec: Framework on Environmental Registry, Jan/Feb: Revision of Framework based on EBR comments, Mar.: Framework to be released & beginning of implementation Hot Topics: Organics disposal ban: 2022 (MOECC has hired consultants to assist with details and implementation of a ban); recognition of municipal diversity re: population, urban density, diversion targets, collection and processing methods; food waste reduction; approvals, funding, end markets, P&E, compostable packaging & products Other meetings between MOECC staff and 4 Amigos, e.g. MOECC request for organics capture rates (related to diversion targets) MWA Fall Workshop 2017
