Emotions Talk resource to develop resilience and emotional wellbeing P.E. for 2 hours every week including daily mile run/walk Internet safety programme Road safety week Science and Health and Wellbeing topics relating to being healthy Anti-bullying week Outdoor learning week

7 Literacy Reading with groups - asking and answering questions about the story. Comprehension of short fictional and non-fictional passages Class story or novel with work linked to it, e.g. Roahl Dahl, Flat Stanley Writing of sounds and tricky words based around Edinburgh Literacy Rich, following on from Primary 1 and 2 programme until it is completed. We will then move on to working through the Spelling programme, once the children have been assessed. Development of written work will using Big Writing, with a focus on VCOP Talking outcomes will be covered through circle times, class presentations, individual and group projects Listening skills activities, listening skills activities with partner or group during tasks

8 Maths and Numeracy SEAL maths programme focuses mainly on mental agility and using number for addition, subtraction, partitioning numbers, division and multiplication Starting to learn times tables Heinemann Active Maths to reinforce learning Both programmes use a variety of techniques – oral repetition, using concrete materials, games, songs and written tasks. Big Maths challenges used to increase speed of recall of number facts Other maths linked to topics where relevant and can be supported through real life examples, e.g. spending money and telling the time Focus has moved away from written pages of sums and we use lots of concrete materials and active maths strategies.

9 Home learning Daily reading, sometimes with reading detective activity
Maths activities – weekly or Maths wall including Sumdog access Weekly spelling with activities Occasional topic related challenges Activity wall e.g- play a board game, baking, physical activity If individual children have found something particularly challenging we might ask you to work on it at home for extra practice

10 Assessment Constant, ongoing assessments of children’s learning
A lot of observations from discussions with children, their written work and from other ways they have displayed their learning Formative assessment strategies like thumbs up/down, ‘fist to 5’, traffic lights. We give children immediate verbal feedback and written feedback based on learning intentions for each lesson Some more formal assessments - from Literacy programme etc.
