Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself the church’s Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for the church,

26 that he might sanctify the church, having cleansed the church by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that the church might be holy and without blemish. Ephesians 5:23-27

Article 7 – The Church We believe that the true church comprises all who have been justified by God’s grace through faith alone in Christ alone. They are united by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ, of which He is the Head. The true church is manifest in local churches, whose membership should be composed only of believers.

Article 7 – The Church The Lord Jesus mandated two ordinances, baptism and the Lord’s Supper, which visibly and tangibly express the gospel. Though they are not the means of salvation, when celebrated by the church in genuine faith, these ordinances confirm and nourish the believer.

Article 7: The Church We believe that the true church is made up of only those who are justified by God’s grace, through faith alone and in Christ alone.

For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. Romans 8:29-30

Article 7: The Church We believe the people of the true church are united by the Holy Spirit in the body of Christ of which he is the head.

12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves[d] or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:12-13

Article 7: The Church We believe the true church is made manifest in local churches and the membership of these local churches should only be composed of true believers.

Article 7: The Church We believe the Lord Jesus mandated two ordinances, baptism and the Lord’s Supper – both of which visibly and tangibly express the gospel.

Article 7: The Church We believe these ordinances are not the means of salvation, however, when celebrated by the church in genuine faith, they confirm and nourish the believer.

Of this gospel I was made a minister according to the gift of God's grace, which was given me by the working of his power. 8 To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God,

who created all things, 10 so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. 11 This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him. Ephesians 3:7-12
