Narrow down career and college choices. Not sure?.... Career assessments, interest inventories, job shadowing Research colleges that have your intended major or program using or There are many resources to help you research colleges and careers, most are online. If you are not sure where to start, completing a interest inventory or career assessment may help with exploring your options. This is important to do the first semester of your junior year, this will provide time for you to prepare and register for standardized testing, improve your gpa, get involved with extracurricular activities, visit colleges, talk with recruiters or participate in job shadowing.

4 What to look for when researching colleges

Even though it’s a great idea to visit the website, college research tools are much more user friendly.

5 (What do you see?) The college website is great, but its also for current students, professors, alumni has lots of pictures and marketing! The website is great to use to find out about guest speakers who will be coming to the campus, pictures of student activities and the campus as well as the clubs and activities that student participate in. Finding the information you need to narrow your choices down is easier to navigate with the tools we just went over

6 CFNC-tabs on the left side make finding information you need quick and easy and if you want to save the search this option is also available. Most of you created this account your freshman year. You can complete interest inventories, career exploration, college exploration, FASFA and so much more! Remember the log in info user name=Last Name, First initial, Middle initial and the last two digits of your graduation year Ex: GunnTT03 and your password is your student/lunch # Important for CAW

And then you begin to think about your current situation. Your course selection, your gpa, extracurricular activities. Just think the grades you make your Junior year will be the grades that colleges get on your transcript because these grades are what colleges see as you begin to apply to colleges the 1st semester of your Senior year! College applications will ask for 3 things: transcript, gpa and a test score (ACT/SAT). Look at your handout to learn how GPA is calculated. TRUE

Pay attention to announcements! Check the guidance webpage frequently for college application and scholarship information. Use the summer between Junior and Senior year to study for SAT/ACT/ASVAB
