Progress for All Aspirational Attainment
Progress 8 is based on estimated attainment Estimated attainment is what student of a similar ability range achieved in actual outcomes last year Estimated attainment equates to cumulative grade points over 10 subjects To get the expected progress target grade for a student we divide the cumulative estimated attainment by 10 Each grade is worth one point, for example a C grade being equal to 5 points As it is not possible to get a part of a grade we round up the score to the next whole number So a student on 4.6 average would have estimated attainment of 48.50 We divide by 10 to give an average grade of 4.85 This is then rounded up to give a whole grade target of 5 Progress for All
6
Progress for All Target setting
Targets are set for the end of year 11, not for the end of year 10 Targets are based on whole grades dependent upon what each course awards, e.g. new grade 1-9; legacy grade A*-G; vocational grade of Pass, Merit, Distinction Target grades are based on three factors; Prior attainment; the average score/level achieved at the end of KeyStage 2 Progress over time; whether they have made expected, good or outstanding progress in their time at Smestow Subject aptitude: in some subjects they are stronger and have more capacity to attain higher grades Students may therefore be given different target grades for different subjects Target grades may be reviewed upwards based on performance during the course Progress for All
