2. Inversion 倒装
Inversion is the changing of the order of the words in the sentence. When we use inversion , we put the predicate or part of it before the subject . This puts emphasis on the predicate instead of on the subject. We can use inversion in many cases.

3. 1.在疑问句中通常用倒装 1.) Did you go to visit China last year ?
2.) Where do you play basketball ?

4. 1）当句子是以否定词或否定短语开头的时候。
2.把助动词放在主语的前面
1）当句子是以否定词或否定短语开头的时候。
如：neither ,nor, never, not , at no time , by no means , seldom , hardly ,etc

5. He did not like the painting. Neither did I .
Neither am I impressed by the paintings nor do I like them .
Never in my life have I seen such wonderful pictures.
Not a word did he say about his visit to the art museum.

6. At no time during the tour was I bored.
Seldom does he paint now.
Hardly had I got to Amsterdam when it began to snow .
No sooner had we sat down than he came in .

7. 2)以so 和only 开头的句子
Li Ming enjoyed the museum . So did his grandmother and aunt.
So crowed was the art gallery that I could hardly move about .
Only on such a trip can you learn as much about European artists.

8. 3.我们可以把主语放在动词之后: 1）句子是以直接引语或者它的一个部分开始
“I’d like to come back and see Monet’s garden,” said my aunt .
“This ,” said the artist , “is the most beautiful place I have ever seen .”

9. 2)主语太长
Present at the party were a group of young people who called themselves pioneers of modern art .

10. 3)句子是以here , there , in ,out , up ,down, on ,etc.
Look ! Here comes the bus .
The door opened and in came Mr Smith , the artist.
Out rushed the children.
Down came the water from the top of the mountain .

11. 4.在正式的非真实条件句中，我们有时把should ,were 和had 放在句子开头引出句子
Should you have gone on the trip , you would have learnt a lot about painting .
Were the picture unique, it would be valuable.
Had the museum been closed, we would have been upset .
