1 Experiences of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, with EM A2 projects Ao.Univ.Prof.i.R. Dr. W. Pleschberger

2 WHY ??? - Reasons for BOKU to participate in EM A2 projects
Central Asia = one of the focus regions of our strategy for internationalization One of BOKU’s strategic goals is to increase incoming and outgoing student and staff mobility Therefore, BOKU co-ordinated and participated in 18 EM A2 projects in Russia, South East Asia and Latin America since 2007

3 Benefits of EM A2 projects for BOKU 1/2
EM consortia = built on previously existing co-operation agreements with EU and Non-EU partners, but expanded to new universities new agreements, new projects – sustainable + long-lasting Increased “internationalization at home” through the incomings Increased international experience and intercultural skills for BOKU staff and students, particularly the mobile persons

4 Benefits of EM A2 projects for BOKU 2/2
Several EM A2 scholarship holders are still / now working in important positions at their home universities “BOKU Ambassadors” - contributing to improved collaboration between their institution and BOKU Increased know-how about foreign grading systems to facilitate recognition procedures Improved procedures for monitoring academic success of incoming students

5 Drawbacks / Lessons learnt
In some cases less mobilities / shorter duration than originally planned due to the long duration of obtaining residence permits for Austria Different points of view concerning reporting procedures required by mobile persons and details of auditing files to be submitted Challenges for continuing the co-operation: ERASMUS+ International Mobility reduces the EM A2 networks to bilateral connections with low numbers of mobilities that have to be planned a long time in advance.
