1 Spectrum Medical, Inc. VIPER/M3 Patient Monitor
Navigating the Simulation Tool One of the key advantages with the Spectrum system is they have developed a tool for conducting an online demonstration on how to set-up and navigate the screens, buttons and menus. This module will demonstrate an overview of the key features of this simulation tool.

2 This is a software tool for download to your laptop computer
This is a software tool for download to your laptop computer. It will be something you can be used for your personal user training. In conjunction with Live meeting, you can then hold a virtual, or distance-learning conference with a customer to demonstrate the features and functions of the Viper [CLICK] and the M3 products. Everything you have learned in the eight training modules applies to the navigation and explanation of the different features in the main screen [CLICK] highlighted here in yellow. What this demonstration tool also provides is the means to simulate other features, like connecting sensors, losing AC Power, and loading the SD card.

3 Before loading the Simulation Software, I suggest you create a new folder in My Documents labeled Spectrum Medical. When you load the SD card with the V49 Simulation software, direct the install procedure so this tool is copied into this new Spectrum Medical folder. After the tool is copied, Go to My Documents and the Spectrum Medical folder. The software will appear as V49Demo. Left-click [CLICK] to open. [CLICK]

4 In this folder, locate and Left-click [CLICK] on the Demonstration
In this folder, locate and Left-click [CLICK] on the Demonstration.exe file to open the training tool. The screen that opens is for the VIPER system. Before you can proceed, you will need to confirm the clock time and date [CLICK] and then left-click on “OK”. [CLICK] The next screen that opens will ask if you want to recover the previous case. For the purposes of conducting a training demonstration, left-click on “NO”. [CLICK] The next screen is where you will begin navigating the simulation buttons outside the main screen.

5 Let’s start with simulating connecting the sensors
Let’s start with simulating connecting the sensors. The system has one sensor that is capable of displaying arterial and venous Saturation, or Art and Ven SO2 with hemoglobin. These selections are viewed by opening the drop down window. In this demo, the selection highlighted is for arterial and venous saturation, and hemoglobin. To simulate connecting the sensor, left-click [CLICK] on the graphic for the sensor. You will notice colored displays appear in the top menu bar for your selected choice. Next, [CLICK] locate the sensor for arterial blood flow, which is designated in this simulator as “Red Flow”. Options for selecting which Transonic flow sensor is used can be seen by opening the drop-down window. Next, left-click [CLICK] on the sensor to “connect” the arterial flow sensor. A red-colored flow display will appear in the top menu bar. [CLICK] Locate the sensor for venous blood flow, and repeat this process.

6 Locate the M3 button in the lower right corner and left-click
Locate the M3 button in the lower right corner and left-click. The screen for the M3 monitor opens and the button changes to “Viper”. Move your cursor to the AC Power icon and left-click. The icon changes to represent being unplugged and a dialogue box opens advising you the system is running on Battery Power. Click OK to clear this dialogue box. Then click on the unplugged icon to reconnect to AC Power.

7 If a wrong or expired session card is in the system, [CLICK] a dialogue box will open to advise the user that a new card needs to be inserted.

8 Now that you have been introduced to the Simulation tool, please complete the narrated or scripted tutorials that are specific to either the M3, or {CLICK] the VIPER.
