15 Slide 15 – Protostome and deuterostome body plan

16 Slide 16 – Protosomes - schizocoelom
The blastopore is the single opening of the archenteron and in protosomes, the blastopore forms the mouth. The development of the mesoderm in protosomes are called schizocoelom which is defined as the developing mesoderm rises from the area near the blastophore where division takes place forming the mesoderm

17 Slide 17 – Deuterostomes - enterocoelom
In deuterosomes, the blastopore (single opening of the archenteron) forms the anus. The development of the mesoderm is called an enterocoelom which is defined as the developing mesoderm rises from a pair of mesodermal pouch from the primitive gut (endoderm). This pouch enlarges until they meet and fuse

18 Slide 18 - Mollusca
