2 What is a hurricane? A hurricane is a storm that forms over warm water and has wind speeds greater than 75 mph.

3 Famous Hurricanes Hurricane Rita hit Arkansas on Sept,17, 2005 and ended on Sept,24, 2005. Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana on Aug,23,2005 and it ended on Aug,30,2005. Hurricane Ike hit the Bahamas on Sept,01,2008 and ended on Sept,18,2008

4 Hurricane Safety Have proper tools & supplies & a first aid kit.
Always have plenty of nonperishable foods on hand. Make sure that your home meets building codes for with standing hurricanes, and they have storm shutters.

5 Interesting Facts 1st -If the winds are 75mph or lower it’s a tropical storm if the winds are higher it’s a hurricane. 2nd- A hurricanes winds blow in a spiral around the calm & rough circular center called the eye. 3rd- A hurricane season is from June 1st – the 30th .
