Enhance athletic performance Accentuate intensity Increase student commitment/connection Athletic optimization & maintenance Injury reduction Improve self image & self confidence

3 Anticipated student outcomes
Instruction which focuses on the 4 “core lifts” and their translation to the sport Increase students’ overall strength, power & endurance Increase students’ understanding of the relationship between weight training, cardiovascular endurance, nutrition, flexibility, and body composition related to a fitness goal Develop a personal fitness program specifically designed to increase athletic strength and conditioning

4 Rationale for this particular course
Improves our student athletes’ outcomes Offers our students an expanded opportunity Needs of a student-athlete are different from a general fitness student and we recognize this Expands the offerings we provide Provides an instructional platform to these skills that is common (delivers the expertise to all athletes instead of segmented to only a select few)

5 Course Particulars Open to athletes in grades 10 & 11
Separated into a boys and girls section Would be offered as a year long course Would consist of a level 1 and level 2 course Enrollment cap would be 30 students per teacher
