6. Roles Explained (briefly)
Director of Campus Housing: Oversees all operations in the department. Associate Director of Residence Life: Oversees all of Residence Life in the department (programming, conduct, student engagement) and directly supervises Assistant Directors. Assistant Directors: Oversee either South and West Campus or East Campus. Direct the day-to-day activities on East, South, and West. Area Coordinator for Student Engagement: The Area Coordinator will be advising student leadership programs like RHA and NRHH as well as coordinating other student engagement activities. Housing Officers: oversee the administrative processes and scheduling of the area desks in the residence halls. Resident Directors (RDs): Oversee the day-to-day operations in the residence halls and supervise student staff. Assistant Resident Directors (ARDs): Provide support to RDs and help oversee the day-to-day operations in the residence halls as well as supervising student staff. Senior Resident Assistant of PBMA: Coordinate the programmatic efforts of the Pathways to Black Male Achievement program. Senior Peer Mentor (SPM): SPMs provide support to RDs and ARDs and assist with supervising Peer Mentors, coordinating Special Interest Area programming, coordinating faculty programs, and assisting with the Learning Resource Center operations. Faculty in Residence (FIR): Professors who live in the residence halls and engage with students through programming and other activities.

7. Dean of Students
The Dean of Students’ mission is to provide a student-centered, learning environment that offers support, advocacy, and resources which contribute to student success.

Serves as an advocate to assist students with academic and personal concerns
Provides legal services to students
Supports and assists student veterans in their transition to university life
Assists students in resolving administrative, academic, and personal grievances
Ensures that the university standards for student conduct are upheld through the administration of the Student Disciplinary Policy
Provides support and assistance for student crime victims
Addresses concerning student behavior
Offers consultation services for students, faculty and staff on a variety of issues related to student concerns and student misconduct
Supports students in crisis or with family emergencies
Assists students who experience financial difficulties
Refers students to on-campus and off-campus resources as necessary

8. Counseling Center
“Counseling Center provides diverse services to help students deal with stress, handle a crisis or trauma, cope with the transition to college, gain strength from gender and cultural identity, or manage serious mental illness and many other issues. Our counselors can help students increase resilience and positive well-being by developing effective coping and problem-solving skills. The Counseling Center is supported by the Health Service Fee as assessed to all students enrolled at the university and therefore enrolled students are eligible for Counseling Center mental health services without additional cost.”

9. Campus Advocacy Network (CAN)
The Campus Advocacy Network (CAN) provides confidential, anonymous, free services to UIC students, staff and faculty who have experienced sexual assault, domestic/dating violence, stalking and hate crimes. CAN also offers education and training on these topics as well as programming about prevention education and men’s initiatives.

10. Wellness Center
The Wellness center provides services that promote healthy attitudes and behaviors, empower students to make informed choices, and enhance holistic wellbeing. The Wellness Center office houses a Resource Center with a range and variety of health and wellness information, including brochures on issues covering everything from stress and nutrition to relationships and abstinence.

Workshops that cover the latest information on alcohol, relationships, contraception, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI), HIV/AIDS, stress, and much more.

12. Office of Student Financial Aid (OFSA)
The OSFA administers an array of federal, state and institutional programs. 13. Student Leadership Development and Volunteer Services (SLDVS)
SLDVS works with students in co-curricular learning experiences that will:
Develop competencies for leadership on campus and in surrounding communities;
Inspire growth in civic engagement from personal and professional perspectives; and
Encourage understanding issues of social justice and advocacy for social concerns.

14. Office of Special Scholarships
“The Office of Special Scholarship Programs (OSSP) assists current UIC undergraduate and professional school students in searching and applying for nationally competitive scholarships, fellowships and external scholarship awards. 17. Latin American Recruitment and Educational Services (LARES)
LARES is a recruitment and academic assistance program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. It was established to recruit, advise and provide educational assistance to Latino students at both the high school and college levels. LARES was primarily designed to assist Latino students who are interested in pursuing higher education and who are in need of guidance and support.

18. Native American Support Program
The Native American Support Program (NASP) strives to increase the enrollment, retention and graduation rates of Native American students.
