Provide comprehensive program of studies that meet the interests and needs of middle school students. Increase Advanced Course Offerings & Gifted Programs Ensure Consistent Course Placement Develop Full Program of Study - Core, Advanced, Exploratory Develop System of Assessment for Four Core Content Areas Develop Consistent Grading and Promotion Practices Match Exploratory Offerings to Student Interest

Provide supports that meet the cognitive and non-cognitive needs of students. Use common student data to monitor progress and adjust instruction Administer and use non-cognitive assessments Improve Positive Behavior Intervention and Support Systems Develop and Implement Tiered Academic, Behavioral and Socioemotional Supports Academic and Behavior Specialist School Counselor/Social Worker Interventionist

Emphasize and encourage a growth mindset, adaptation, and self-advocacy. Continue and expand transition supports Vertical articulation Elem/MS and MS/HS Expand WEB program to all middle schools Implement student agency programs AVID, LEAD and IB Implement advisory class to include student goals and action plans Review and enhance extra-curricular programming Activities and Athletics

7 Where Everybody Belongs
WHO?: 8th Grade WEB Leaders serve as role models and mentors to incoming 6th graders, providing them with yearlong support. WHAT?: Evidenced based 6th grade student transition program designed to integrate them into the middle school environment. Students will participate in Academic and Social Follow Ups to help the transition process. WHEN?: 8th Grade Leaders will meet during Advisory on Wednesdays to learn, practice, and receive feedback on the academic or social lesson they will implement the following week. They will meet with their 6th graders on scheduled Thursdays during Core Enrichment to deliver these lessons. WHY?:WEB is designed to introduce 6th graders to middle school and give them a sense of belonging and community. Students take part in practicing life skills, academic strategies, communication, and peer interactions.

Training “Launching Approaches to Learning”, “Launching the MYP”, “Approaches to Learning Skills”, and “Explicitly Teaching the Approaches to Learning (ATL) Skills” Teachers Learner Profile Attributes and Core ATL Skills wall hangings Connecting CCRS and ATL skills, connecting ATL skills to units already prepared, Explicitly/implicitly teaching ATL skills, determining Global Contexts for units already prepared, beginning to write IB Statements of Inquiry from Learning Goals Students Beginning to hear the terminology of IB.   Advisory time is connecting Learner Profile Attributes and a more peaceful, humane world Beginning to learn ATL skills
