4. Bible Application
Not all religious people approach the Bible the same way.
Some (including religious persons) believe the Bible is not the word of God, or they believe that it is part God’s word and part man’s word – full of myths and legends that must be “demythologized.”

Some believe the Bible contains errors and contradictions.
Some believe the Bible is not complete.
Some believe the Bible is not understandable.
Some believe the Bible is not our sole guide in life.

Some believe the Bible is a good piece of English literature on par with the works of Plato or Shakespeare.
Some believe the Bible is a good book of moral platitudes – a book of “do’s and don’ts.” Some believe the Bible is a charm or “wonder- book,” such as a special “anointed Bible.” Some believe the Bible is a good “safety deposit box” for family keep-sakes.

We must not be like Israel who had a wrong view of God’s word: “I wrote for him the ten thousand things of my law; but they are counted as a strange thing” (Hosea 8:12).
What you believe about the Bible before you open it up, will determine what you do with the Bible after you open it up.
