2. Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.
O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

3. Literal meaning Where? Matthew 14 – on the lake of Galilee
When? After the multiplication of the loaves on the hill
What? Jesus walks on the water and Peter walks with him
Who? Jesus, Peter, disciples, men in the boat
How? At night in the middle of a stormy sea
Why? Jesus strengthens the faith of his apostles

4. A strange miracle
The disciples are sent forth without Jesus across the stormy sea
Jesus prays on the mountain
Sea in the Bible represents chaos, sin and death
Jesus comes in the latest and darkest part of the night: 3 to 6 am
Fear and Faith
Only God walks on the sea – ‘It is I’ = ‘I am’

Raised from nature to grace through the divine life of Baptism.
Called to move from fear to faith in on-going journey.
Called to fix our eyes on Jesus, the Living Bread.
‘Man does not live on bread alone’

From the Eucharist to the Storm
From the Storm to Worship

9. Mary, Virgin and Mother,
you who, moved by the Holy Spirit,
welcomed the word of life
in the depths of your humble faith:
as you gave yourself completely to the Eternal One,
help us to say our own “yes”
to the urgent call, as pressing as ever,
to proclaim the good news of Jesus.
Mother of the living Gospel,
wellspring of happiness for God’s little ones,
pray for us.
Amen. Alleluia.
