3 Institutes, education and research
Bachelor degree Programme: Environmental Structures Undergraduates will obtain basic knowledge of environmental and civil engineering: in the area of analysis of the environmental pollution, monitoring of pollutants and basic processes of their separation and collection; landscape protection and revitalisation; in pre-design, design and construction of various types of structures with environmental specification; in the management of the construction processes, and legislative regulations. Master degree Programme: Environmental Structures Graduates can apply modern methods in fields: environmental quality monitoring of various components of the environment, sustainability assessment of buildings, information processing and data evaluation. They can solve specific environmental problems in engineering practice with regard to the risks and their impact minimization using their theoretical background from natural science and engineering. Graduates are also able to analyse, design and manage the environmental structures as well as manage the built up of various structures. Moreover, they are able to implement new technical solutions into existing technologies. Doctorate degree Programme: Environmental Engineering PhD graduates acquire the scientific methods of research in the field of environmental engineering and the theory of design of structures with environmental specification (landfills, tailing ponds, waste incineration plant, waste water treatment plants, water treatment plants, etc.) and their facilities and systems.

It has been generally understood that an interdisciplinary approach is required in this education. These efforts have already resulted in better building design education and training. More reliable building investigations have also become possible. Acknowledgement The authors are grateful to the Grant Agency of Slovak Republic to support of project No. 1/0307/16, on the base of which the results are presented.
