1 Threatened species of animals in Poland

2 World day of animals that year is celebrated on 4th October.

3 Polish Red Book It is register of threatened sort of animals in the area of Poland.  Degree of threat of individual sort defines, rareness of their occurrence and applicable and suggested manners of protection.

4 The snake Aesculapius Aesculapius snake is a symbol of medicine and pharmacy. It is not venomous. It is the largest snake found in Poland - can reach up to 2 meters long. Unfortunately, soon may change. From year to year there are less and less. It occurs in the Bieszczady mountains.

5 Green lizard The biggest lizard bestowed in Central Europe limbs living. Twice it emit coin in Poland with on reverse thise lizard. It occurs in the Bieszczady Mountains and Upland Lublin.

6 Fire-bellied toad A small amphibian with a fine physique, at first glance resembles a toad. The body is strongly flattened, small eyes and a small head. Frightened by rolling over on its back, showing the bright coloration of the underside of the body. This behavior discourages predators to attack. It occurs throughout the lowlands.

7 Pond turtle The only native turtle species living in Poland, and lives in the environment even more than 120 years. Poland has about 335 refuges of reptiles. It occurs only in National Parks and Landscape.

8 Porpoise Not everyone knows that this relative of the dolphins mammal also occurs in the Baltic Sea. In the Polish part of the Baltic even in 1994 there were about 600 individuals. The exact condition today is not known. It occurs in the Baltic Sea.

16 Żołędnica Currently Żołędnica can be found in Babiogórski National Park. They live in small burrows and rock crevices. It occurs in Babiogórski National Park.

17 Marmot One of the biggest rodents. Currently in the northern hemisphere live 14 species of marmots. They occur in Germany, France, Slovenia, Switzerland and Poland.

18 Goat On top of that mountain goats are at risk, it received a lot of factors. Historically they hunted not because of their extremely delicate skin. Currently, chamois often die as a result of diseases, mainly parasitic invasions. It does not help the fact that this animal is attractive prey for many predators, including wolves and lynx. It occurs in the mountains of Tatra Mountains.

19 Bison Bison in Poland are included in the total protected species. They have massive, large extensive chest and narrow waist, and their horns are large and rounded to the inside. There are in mixed forests.

20 Brown bear It is an animal very characteristic and so thick, brown hair, although it is a large predator, always arouses sympathy - especially in Poland. It is a powerful animal - adults weigh up to 800 kg. In captive brown bears can live up to 40 years old, but the wild life of this species generally do not exceed 25 years. It occurs in the Carpathians.
