4. Types of characterization
DIRECT:
The specifically author tells you what a character is like.
The traits are given
EXAMPLE: Juan Pablo was a very nosey boy.

5. Types of characterization
INDIRECT:
The author shows you what the character is like through:
What the character does, thinks, and says
How the character looks (sometimes)
What others think and say about the character
The traits must be inferred
EXAMPLE: Juan Pablo was always trying to listen in on people’s conversations to get the latest gossip.

6. Now you try! Write one example of direct characterization
THEN, write one example of indirect characterization for the same character and same trait.

7. Types of characters Protagonist: main character or hero
Antagonist: character that creates conflict/is in opposition to main character
Minor characters: have relationship to main character
