1 Renouncing of Grace (Part 2)
3 Renouncing of Grace (Part 2)

2 Review: The Fall from Grace
The perfect creation of the world and man is God’s initial expression of Grace. Man’s disobedience causes his separation from God and fall from grace.

3 The Process of the Fall Theological Fall Refusal to acknowledge God or give thanks to God Philosophical Fall Worship of man-made gods and ideas Moral Fall A plunge into active evil conduct

4 God’s Renewed Promise of Grace Throughout History has Always Centered Around Christ. O.T. – Coming N.T. - Return

5 Gentiles Everyone else
Standard of Judgement Jews Legitimate descendants of Abraham Gentiles Everyone else

6 But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, - Romans 2:5

7 who will render to each person according to his deeds: to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life; - Romans 2:6-7

8 God’s Basic Criteria for Judgement - Romans 2:5-16 Everyone who consciously pursues God’s standard for good will be saved.

9 but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation. - Romans 2:8

10 Those who disobey the truth will face God’s judgement.

11 There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek, - Romans 2:9

12 but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For there is no partiality with God. - Romans 2:10-11

13 For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged by the Law; - Romans 2:12

14 for it is not the hearers of the Law who are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified. - Romans 2:13

15 All Mankind is Responsible to Either:
The “Principle of Law” conscience nature The Revealed Law Moses and the Prophets The Word of God

16 Paul explains that what pleases God is not how a person performs the “externals” of religion but how that person responds to the Law he lives under.

17 For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, - Romans 2:14

18 in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them, on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus. - Romans 2:15-16

19 Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the benefit of circumcision? Great in every respect. First of all, that they were entrusted with the oracles of God. What then? If some did not believe, their unbelief will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it? - Romans 3:1-3

20 May it never be! Rather, let God be found true, though every man be found a liar, as it is written,
“That You may be justified in Your words, And prevail when You are judged.” - Romans 3:4

21 But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? The God who inflicts wrath is not unrighteous, is He? (I am speaking in human terms.) - Romans 3:5

22 May it never be. For otherwise, how will God judge the world
May it never be! For otherwise, how will God judge the world? But if through my lie the truth of God abounded to His glory, why am I also still being judged as a sinner? - Romans 3:6-7

23 And why not say (as we are slanderously reported and as some claim that we say), “Let us do evil that good may come”? Their condemnation is just. - Romans 3:8

24 What then. Are we better than they
What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin; - Romans 3:9

25 Universal Condemnation
JEWS Even with the advantage of revelation, they failed to respond properly. GENTILES Failed to live up to the standard they had in conscience and creation.

26 as it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one; There is none who understands, There is none who seeks for God; All have turned aside, together they have become useless; There is none who does good, There is not even one.” - Romans 3:10-12

27 Why is the Person in China in the 4th Century Condemned?
He could know – Rom. 1:19 He did not respond – Rom. 3:23 God has examined every heart – Rom. 3:10-12

28 What if someone were searching?
And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. - Hebrews 11:6

29 All men have sinned All men are condemned Summary: Romans 1-3
