9 MEALS MEALS ARE SERVED FAMILY STYLE
Benefits of Family Style Meals are: Family style meal service is an excellent way to provide children the opportunity to serve themselves. Opportunity to practice fine motor coordination skills such as pouring, scooping and serving. Lear to regulate portion sizes according to their own feelings Lear to share, take turns and socialize. Children learn self-confidence and self-esteem because they are in control. Learn to have fun setting the table and cleaning up after meals

10 Meals (cont.) Allergies/Special Diets must be documented with a physician’s signature. No Substitutions will be made without proper documentation. Field Trips – All meals need to be served on-site or are not creditable. If taking a field trip – Please consult with nutrition coordinator.

11 Meals (cont.) Water Guidelines:
Water must be available to children in CACFP. Throughout the day water should be made available to children to drink upon their request, but does not have to be available for children to self-serve. While drinking water must be made available to children during the meal times, it is not part of the reimbursable meal and may not be served in place of fluid milk.

12 THE ROLE OF THE STAFF AT MEAL TIMES
CACFP GUIDELINES THE ROLE OF THE STAFF AT MEAL TIMES Encourage the children to try each food component. Sit down with the children while they eat. Encourage pleasant mealtime conversation. Eat the same meal the children are served.
