3
In your science journal, write two sentences that describe what you think is happening to the liquid nitrogen in the videos.

Objectives Objective 1: Students will be able to demonstrate an example of a physical change Objective 2: Student will be able create mixtures and solutions Objective 3: Students will analyze a classroom demonstration to determine if it is an example of a mixture, solution or physical change Objective 4: Students will plan and construct a classroom demonstration that includes an example of a mixture, solution and a physical change
5
Matter matter is anything that has mass and occupies space
6
States of Matter Matter can be found in three states: liquid, solid, or gas
7
Liquid flowing freely but of constant volume (amount of it doesn’t change) such as oil or drinking water
8
Gas expands freely to fill any space available (air, steam, fog)
9
Solid Firm and stable in shape; not liquid or fluid like ice or rocks
10
Physical Change physical change is when matter changes from one state to another or is changed in shape
11
Physical Change m/articles/physical- change-examples.html
12
Mixture two or more different kinds of matter or substances, each of which keeps its own physical properties
13
Solution mixture in which substances are dissolved to create one substance
