2 Simple Predicates Most sentences have a subject and a predicate. The complete predicate is all the words that tell what the subject does.

3 Simple Predicates The simple predicate is the main word or words in the complete predicate. It is the verb in the sentence.

4 Guided Practice 1. The Native Americans were the first people to grow corn.
