TENNESSEE
City level code adoptions
We want to highlight what our states are doing and showcase the best practices that happening like in Tennessee, where it may look as though they haven’t advanced lately because the RESIDENTIAL statewide code is still the 2006 IECC, but there are cities like Chattanooga, Nashville, and Knoxville who have chosen to forge ahead and adopt the 2012 energy code. 14

We will also be keeping our members and stakeholders up to date on adoptions, amendments, legislative bills--- like the this one here in South Carolina. I’ve been getting a lot of calls lately about this one, this was circulating around recently and I was getting a lot of calls and questions about when this went info effect and if SEEA was involved… well we weren’t, because its not true. This bill did not pass out of committee. So SEEA will be a trusted ally in the region to spend time researching and watching bills to report on what’s actually happening because we are boots on the ground and we will keep you updated on what is happening because we live and breathe energy codes in the Southeast 16

We will also be showcasing what the Southeast is doing as a whole and how we as a region are participating in some impressive activity that should not be overlooked. The Department of Energy selected FIVE states in the Southeast out of all the applications they received to conduct multi-year energy code research projects. DOE is investing in the Southeast and we want to promote that push this information out to our stakeholders. 17
