Gina had been saving her allowance for months so she could buy her mother a birthday gift. Allowance - if you get money for doing chores or helping at home, you get an allowance. What’s the word? Allowance When I was little, I got an allowance each week for helping to set the table. Would someone get an allowance for doing the dishes or for breaking them?

Mom looked rosy and bright like the morning sun. Rosy – If something looks rosy, it looks pink. What’s the word? Rosy A rosy sunset fills the sky with red and pink colors. Which of these might you describe as rosy --- dark brown hair or a sunburn?

15 Robust Vocabulary Give an example of something you might do to earn an allowance. Show or draw an example of something that is rosy.

16 Grammar Action verb – a word that tells what someone or something does. A verb that tells about an action that is happening NOW is called a present-tense action verb. Gina finds a just-right gift. The present-tense action verb in the sentence is finds. The verb finds tells what someone – Gina – does now.

17 Identify Present-tense action verbs
Danny and Gina go to a store. Gina shops for a birthday gift for Mom. They see many goods for sale. Gina waves a timer in the air.
