Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.(Heb. 11:1)

Dietrich Bonhoeffer: The Christian life comes to mean nothing more than living in the world and as the world, in being no different from the world….The upshot of it all is that my only duty as a Christian is to leave the world for an hour or so on a Sunday morning and go to church and be assured that all my sins are forgiven. I need no longer follow Christ, for cheap grace has freed me from that.”

Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

Abraham – a major bible figure: Rahab a minor figure.
Abraham – father of the faithful: Rahab a foreigner. Abraham – highly respected: Rahab disreputable. Abraham – a man: Rahab a woman.

Matt Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

“The life of faith is the life which respects the glory of Christ, for in his obedience to God and his concern for needy sinners he humbled himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross! Phil2:7,8.It is obedience to the royal law, to the word of God seen in our concern for the needs of man. It is the life of active consecration seen in the obedience which holds nothing back from God, and the concern which holds nothing back from human need.” (from Alec Moyter)
