We know that there should be a (phase) transition from partons to hadrons, confirmed by the experimental findings. for exsample: Jet quenching at RHIC indicates a deconfined phase of partons, and we observe only hadrons.

9 (Physical) Motivation

We do not know yet how partons hadronize. There are no first principle calculations. We have to model the parton-hadron phase transition, which is a dynamical process.
