Rationale Women comprise 58% of students and are a majority in all degrees Yet… The “scissors phenomenon / effect” (exclusion of women in the higher ranks) prevails, especially in STEM*-related positions, both in academia and industry In addition to… Inequality in terms of employment, including up to a 30% gap in salary (2016 Gender Index, ‘Shavot’ Center for Advancement of women in the Public Arena, Van Leer Institute, Jerusalem) *STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics

Snapshot Is a Technology-oriented Institute In 2016 there were a total 3,792 students (373 of them - Graduate/Master’s degree) 34% of them – women (typical in STEM subjects)

At we train and prepare our graduates for a successful integration into the industry / workforce Men have a better chance to reach top / executive levels The Challenge! What is lacking? How can we better equip our (female) students to cope with these predicaments? How can we increase the number of (female) students in the STEM disciplines (in general and at HIT)?
