2. What is copyright?
Copyright is a form of protection that the Constitution grants to any published or unpublished work.
Copyright infringement is when someone violates someone's published work by claiming it there own.

3. Penalties for Copyright Infringement
Some of the penalties for Copyright Infringement are:
Getting sued by the owner of the document
Going to jail
Being fined for not using “ fair use”
Pay certain fees and fines

4. Fair Use What does it mean? Whose included in this?
Fair Use is any time when people use copyrighted material. The only difference is that it is a limited amount that is used.
Examples: Commenting, criticizing, or for a parody.
Whose included in this?
Everyone is included in this as long as they use it in a proper way.

5. Condition for Deciding Fair Use
People need to be aware and make sure that they are not harming the commercial value of the work.
They also need to make sure when they use it that it is only a short excerpt.
The purpose and character of the use, including whether the use is of commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes.

6. Things to consider when using multimedia in the classroom
Educators and teachers need to make sure that:
The source has to be credited.
The copyright notice and copyright ownership information has to be displayed if it is shown in the original source.
Copyright information for images must be shown.

7. Film used for the Classroom
What if you want to tape something off the TV to use in the classroom?
A TV program can legally be taped and shown to students only with the copyright owner's permission.
Rules and Guidelines
Only programs broadcast to the general public may be taped.
A classroom teacher who wants a particular program taped should ask the school to tape it.
The tape may be shown only during the first ten consecutive school days after it is made.
A limited number of copies may be made from each off-air recording.
The tape may not be altered in any way.

8. What are the conditions…
When using someone else’s words?
When using someone else’s words you must make sure that you quote their own words.
When using another’s musical score
When using music the same rules apply the person who created the song must be given credit.

9. How can you get permission to use items in your classroom?
One can get permission to use the item by contacting the publisher. By doing this one will have permission and can access it.
Another way of doing this is that an educator can let the school get permission to access it so then all the different educators can have access to it.

10.   When items are posted to a website what should the creator be careful to consider?
The creator should be careful that everything posted is not copyrighted by someone else.
They should also be careful if they use something that they use “fair use”.
At times one may have to ask for permission before posting something onto a website.
