2 Lesson Introduction Given the Quality Assurance (QA) curriculum requirements, the student will be able to identify qualifications and certifications necessary to perform Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS) duties.

3 Lesson Objectives Upon completion of this lesson, you should be able to: Identify QA core training requirements. Identify the QAS competency assessment process. Identify QAS actions to support First Line Supervisor (FLS) in the competency assessment process. Identify key areas of the Talent Management System (TMS) eTool. Identify QAS qualifications for accepting products/services on behalf of the U.S. Government. Lesson 4: Safety Stock

6 Policy Department of Defense (DoD) Directive , Defense Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics (AT&L) Workforce Education, Training, and Career Development Program Outlines responsibilities for an education, training, and career development program for DoD AT&L Workforce. Primary objective is to create a professional, agile, and motivated workforce that supplies timely, affordable capabilities to the warfighter.

QA training requirements include: Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Level II certification DCMA Skill Sets Core/Core Plus courses On-the-Job Training (OJT) Continuous Learning (CL) Electronic Individual Development Plan (eIDP)

9 DAWIA Requirements DAWIA Level II certification via Defense Acquisition University (DAU) training is a condition of employment Current DAU courses for DAWIA certification: Production, Quality, and Manufacturing (PQM) career field for QA personnel Engineering (formerly Systems, Planning, Research, Development, and Engineering) career field for Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) personnel

20 Continuous Learning (CL) – Agency
Continuous Learning Point (CLP) requirement: 80 CLPs every 2 years, goal of 40 CLPs per Fiscal Year (FY) Agency compliance data reported annually to AT&L CL website accessed through DAU virtual campus,

21 CL – Professional Certifications from American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification training points count toward CLPs Started in FY11 with QA field nominees for Certified Quality Technician (CQT) program Must pass certification exam and receive professional credentials DCMA supports certifications which are a mark of professionalism throughout industry

22 Electronic Individual Development Plan (eIDP)
eIDP used to request, document, and track formal training Must justify and properly prioritize courses (QA Development, para ) FLS final approval authority on requested courses eIDP data used to: Forecast and develop training requirements Plan the annual training budget Develop training schedules OJT Event Local Training

23 Local Training May satisfy competency requirements
Managed at the Contract Management Office (CMO) level Part of CMO budget Be aware of local training Must be documented

Ensure training is comprehensive and ample to accomplish QA activities specific to job assignment If not completely confident in a skill set, consult with the FLS to determine method(s) to increase competency, training, and experience Approach FLS, or higher authority, for training necessary to perform current QA activities
