1 SBS- Counterweight Support and Magnet Assembly - Status
R Wines - April 13, 2016

2 Prior to lifting the structure off of the wooden blocks and having it support it's own weight: Finish the assembly of the counterweight. Install and torque the two 2.5" rods that hold the CW blocks together Add the 1" dowels between the CW blocks at the specified locations Bolt test to ensure the soft magnet steel can handle the torque (preload) we require. Build out the hydraulic system to run the cylinders that will lift the structure off the wooden blocks.  There is a flow control valve that must be installed as close to the cylinder as possible to prevent the jacks from slamming back down. 5. Add the spacer shims to the jacks to set the proper height of the system. Prior to building the magnet on the structure we need to design and fabricate the magnet build stand that will allow the full depth of the steel blocks to be supported during assembly.

3 Plan to assemble magnet on the CW including the new saddle coil.
Assembly and testing is being done when technicians are not needed for priority work in the Hall. LCW and power supply are not accessible in the location of the CW assembly area. Powering of the magnet will require separate assembly on the floor, additional 4 man-weeks (2 technicians for 2 weeks). LCW upgrades in the TestLab are planned to be completed by the end of April.
