1 Full circle ‘together we are strong’
NEW ACADEMIC Presentation to parents & students YOU MATTER. You were made to be awesome

2 Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,
Can you believe it?  Another school year is upon us. This school year is truly going to be something special.  Why?  Because I can promise you that Full Circle Education is going to be a place filled with laughter, passion, love and learning.  At Full Circle we want each and every person that comes into our little school with BIG AMBITIONS to know they are valued and that they hold tremendous worth.  We want to teach our students to “Be Brave” and to adopt the Full Circle “I Can” attitude.  We believe in fresh-starts and new beginnings.  We believe in growth and potential.  And we believe in bringing everyone together to accomplish success. To the students, I want you to know how much we truly care about you. You are the reason we come to work every day.  You matter to each and every one of us.  When you come into school everyday, you are the most important thing in the world to us.  We hope that every day you leave our building knowing how special you are and just how much amazing talent and potential you hold. To the parents and guardians, you are just as important.  Without you, we will not reach our full potential as a school.  We value you and your opinions.  We look to you as a partner in your child’s education.  We are excited to work with you and to greet you with a smile and open arms each and every day.  Full Circle is a school where you are welcome any time. We know from experience that it will take an entire community coming together to make this our BEST year yet.   This school year is filled with unlimited potential and we are ready to meet the challenges head on! My “Superhero” Team ready and waiting to start the journey and I hope you are too?  Together we are strong. Let’s do this! Nina Moore

4 WE NEED YOU We view our parents as essential partners on our journey towards continued increased student achievement. Simply put, we need your help! We Need You! We are asking that our parents commit to helping us in five very crucial ways: 1. Attendance. We need your children in school and in class. When students are routinely absent or late they miss valuable learning time. Over a period of time, this missed teaching and learning can very seriously adversely affect your child’s ability to be successful academically. Please avoid absence and please let us know if your child is going to be absent. 2. Please talk to your child about school and make quality space and time in your family routines EVERYDAY to talk about school and their day; to question what they are doing and to support them with homework; independent study and revision. Stay involved.

5 3. Encourage and nurture opportunities for reading at home
3. Encourage and nurture opportunities for reading at home. Your child needs to read MORE! Full stop. Magazines, Newspapers, books. Encourage; Model and Reward. Join a library! 4. We need your child to be ‘Ready to Learn’ and equipped with the necessary tools for learning – a pencil case with pens, pencils, ruler, rubber, a calculator and a sharpener. A PE Kit on PE Days and a swimming kit for swimming lessons. We also need your child to be able to focus in all lessons. This means NO distraction. From tomorrow, Mobile phones are no longer permitted at Full Circle and we need your full parental support in helping us to maximise learning by ensuring your child understands the consequences of not handing-in their phone and/or being caught with a phone and using it during school hours. A recent piece of research by the London School of Economics looked at schools in four English cities and found test scores increased by more than 6% in those which banned phones. “…despite the benefits of new mobile technology, phones cause distractions, reduce productivity and are detrimental to learning. We found that not only did student achievement improve, but also that low-achieving students gained the most. We found the impact of banning phones for students was equivalent to an additional hour a week in school, or to increasing the school year by five days.“ “Learning is hard work and young people are all too aware of this. So when they have a smartphone in their pocket that offers instant entertainment and reward, they can be easily distracted from their work.” The report surveyed the test scores of secondary schools in Birmingham, Leicester, London and Manchester before and after phone bans were introduced. 5. Finally, we would urge you to limit access to mobile technology at night at home and encourage a night-time ‘Switch-off’. Teenagers need their sleep (10 hours) and we are seeing an epidemic in young people not getting enough shut-eye and this having a detrimental impact on their learning.

6 We are all on the same team. Let’s do this. We’ve got work to do!
Don’t STOP BELIEVING. THIS IS YOUR YEAR TO BE AWESOMe…You were made to be awesome! We are all on the same team. Let’s do this. We’ve got work to do!
