Long a vision of the architecture community, to be able to simulate architectural descriptions (models) in support of, e.g.,
Capabilities Based Assessments (pre-milestone A activity)
Analysis of Alternatives (JCIDS, DAS requirement)
To identify and/or compute:
Process bottlenecks
Process durations (e.g., Time Sensitive Targeting)
Communications bandwidth requirements
Battle attrition ratios
Etc.

OV-6c / 10c for scenario sequences
SV-1 for equipment laydown (quantities, locations, etc.)
SV-2 for communications networks
OV-2/3/5 for information requirements <-> SV/SvcV-2/6 for communications alternatives

11. Summary Like tools in many trades, there are many kinds of tools
A corollary to “fit for purpose” modeling might be, “use the right tool for the purpose”
There is interest in executable architectures or simulated architectures
It may require a different approach to architecting
