2 Geography of France France has a lot of interesting Geography but today were only going to focus on the Eiffel Tower geography. The Eiffel Tower was constructed to commemorate the centennial of the French Revolution and to demonstrate France's industrial prowess to the world. The Eiffel Tower is 300m high and the base of it is 125m on each side. The Eiffel Tower started to be built on January 28, 1887 and it was finished on 31 March, 1889.

3 History of France The Celts, who were later called Gauls by the Romans, migrated from the Rhine valley into what is now France. Julius Caesar conquered part of Gaul in 57–52 B.C. , and it remained Roman until Franks invaded in the 5th century A.D. The biggest landmark in France is the Eiffel Tower.

5 FRANCE NATIONAL FLAG The national flag of France is a tricolour flag featuring three vertical bands coloured blue, white, and red. It is known to the English speakers as the France tricolour or simply the tricolour. The colours of the French flag are white, red and blue and they all represent something to do with France. 

6 What do the colours of the French flag mean?
WHITE - White is the traditional colour of the House of Bourbon, who ruled in France from the late 16th Century until the French Revolution. On the flag, the colour white represents the King. RED AND BLUE - The red and blue in the flag represents the city of Paris. Revolutionaries in Paris traditionally flew red and blue. Likewise, revolutionaries wore blue and red ribbons on their hats when they stormed the Bastille in 1789.

7 National anthem The national anthem in France is called La Marseillaise. The national anthem was written in 1792 by Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle. The Marseillaise was a revolutionary song, an anthem to freedom. The French National Convention adopted it as the Republic’s Anthem in 1795.

8 French Currency The French currency is Euro
