He apologizes, blaming his pervertedness and foul language on being under the influence= alcohol
Some refuse for him to continue his story, but, his attitude of “F-it” makes
him more comical!

3. The Prologue: The Tale Itself..
The Monk. The Host, “ Who wants to tell his story, the Monk?”. The Miller, “ I want to tell my tale RIGHT NOW!”. The Reeve, “No, you’re drinking.”

4. The Tale Itself.. Characters:
Nicholas the astronomer that lives with the carpenter and sleeps with his wife…
Alisoun sexy young woman married to the carpenter, but sleeping with Nicholas
Absolon the clerk that is in love with Alisoun and kisses her butt (literally)
John The carpenter that is married to Alisoun

5. The Tale Itself.. (continued)
What is it?
 Fabliau (definitely comical!)
What happens?
Nicolas wants to have sex with Alisoun even though she is married to John. They follow through with the love affair by tricking John into thinking there is going to be another Noah’s flood. While Nicolas and Alisoun have coitus, Absolon calls for Alisoun just for a kiss and she sticks out her butt and he kisses her behind. John sees the affair, but is known as the town kook.

6. The Connection to other Tales.
The Knight tells of a story where love = love at first site (like Trolius has for Criseyde) The Miller changes: love = BIG fat Joke!
