4 Resultant A vector that represents the sum of two or more vectors
Look at figure 4 on page 84 How can I get to the cafeteria from here? The resultant is the same no matter what way you go.

5 Rules for Vectors Vectors can be moved parallel to themselves in a diagram. 2. Vectors can be added in any order. To subtract a vector add its opposite. Multiplying or dividing vectors by scalars results in vectors

6 Remember Vectors in the same direction are added
Vectors in opposite direction are subtracted Vectors at an angle use Pythagorean’s theorem and tangent of the angle Practice: Introduction to Vectors
