3 1. STAKEHOLDER VISITS (Monitoring & Evaluation)
1.1 Request for Cooperation Lately we are picking up a trend of Companies not cooperating or agreeing to the annual monitoring visits when CHIETA evaluators contact them. Kindly be reminded of the following conditions of your accreditation/ approval/endorsement as workplaces/providers:  CHIETA APPROVAL/ACCREDITATION LETTER stipulates - “….subject to the following requirements….. Annual monitoring…. Continuously meeting all the quality and compliance….”  CLAUSE 8 of the Workplace Approval policy guidelines of 2013. IMPORTANT TO NOTE: These visits are not subjected to the availability of learners on site but it is a legislative requirement.

4 2. WORKPLACE APPROVAL/GRANTS RELATED
2.1 The CHIETA is obligated to account for the funding they give to stakeholders for training interventions. 2.2 Employers are therefore encouraged register their learners though the CHIETA’s ETQA Unit for and reporting purposes. 2.3 For programmes that are outside the scope of CHIETA a request will still have to be submitted to the CHIETA, who will then pass your information to the relevant SETA the employer chose for traceability and reporting purposes. 2.4 Employers are encouraged to ensure they are approved for the training interventions they offer prior engaging in learner developments.

2.5 Challenges on Workplaces: APPROVAL: (Workplace Approval Guidelines) Mentors not meeting the criteria. New mentors not being registered with the CHETA Proof of financial sustainability. Legal Name vs Trading Name.

6 3. LEARNER REGISTRATION 3.1 ENROLMENT OF LEARNERS AFTER TRAINING
IMPORTANT NOTE: - Ensure learners are enrolled with CHIETA prior commencing training. 3.2 ANNUAL SUBMISSION OF LEARNERSHIP AGREEMENTS - Stakeholders are discouraged from re-submitting the learnership agreements for enrolments in apprenticeship route training on an annual basis.

TRADE TEST MATTERS 4.1 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS-ACCESS TO TRADE TEST (Contracted Learners) N2 Certificate including four relevant subjects of maths, engineering science and fourth subject as required by the trade Technical trade theory programs quality assured by a SETA deemed to be equivalent to NQF 3 Relevant Engineering NCV certificate with seven subjects at NQF 3 Technical Grade 11 WITH Maths, Science, Language and related trade theory subject Relevant (directly related to the trade theory subjects)N6 certificate or National Technical Diploma ( T, S or N stream)

TTC to CHIETA = WEEKLY SUBMISSIONS (TRADE TEST REPORTS) CHIETA to NAMB = 5-10 WORKING DAYS (Submission for recommendations) NAMB to QCTO = 10 WORKING DAYS (Recommendations for Certification) QCTO to NAMB – 21 WORKING DAYS (Issuing of Trade Certificates)

16 5. RELEVANT STAKEHOLDER CONTACT PERSON
A REQUEST FOR A RELEVANT CONTACT PERSON TO DEAL WITH CHIETA ON LEARNER ISSUES Preferably be somebody that can be contacted administratively to deal with rejections and outstanding information the CHIETA might require, up to on behalf of DHET/NAMB/QCTO.

AQP RELATED MATTERS 8.1 THE CHIETA AS AN ASSESSMENT QUALITY PARNTER (AQP) FOR THE QUALITY COUNCIL FOR TRADES AND OCCUPATION (QCTO) The CHIETA is an approved AQP by the QCTO for specified occupational qualifications registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). The CHIETA, as stipulated in clause 6 of the QCTO’s Assessment Quality Partner Criteria and Guidelines of 9 March 2016, is currently performing some of the AQP functions and is now planning to put systems and processes into place to be able to perform all of functions related to this designation. The CHIETA, as at the 7 July 2017, is approved to be the AQP for the following Occupational Qualifications which have yet to be registered by the SAQA: Name of Qualification OFO CODE Curriculum Number Chemical Laboratory Analyst 311101 Chemical Plant Operator 313301 Maintenance Planner 312202
