2 What is Work-Based Learning?
Work-Based Learning is an educational approach, or instructional methodology that uses the workplace or real work to provide students with the knowledge and skills that will help them connect school experiences to real-life, work activities and future career opportunities.  A quality work-based learning program, when feasible, should be an integral part of a more comprehensive program that integrates academic courses and career technical education. Students benefit from work-based learning that connects to classroom instruction.   EC (a) (d) (e) (4-6) 

3 Why Work-Based Learning?

4 Benefits to Students Provides students an opportunity to explore career options first-hand through direct interaction with industry professionals.   Prepares students for both college and career by connecting learning in the classroom with real-world application.   Allows students to apply classroom learning in a professional environment Students have a chance to develop essential skills such as communication, collaboration  and teamwork, all of which are highly valued in various career fields.

toward a shared goal designed to benefit students while at the same time, achieving goals unique to each partner. Go over briefly that the CTEIG grant, Perkins, CTE State plan, uses the Eleven Elements to guide evaluation and programs.
