8 Why might this be a problem and an opportunity?
In 1915 the government began to consider changes to the voting system. Until this point, citizens living outside Britain were not allowed to vote in the elections. Why might this be a problem and an opportunity?

10 Activity: Read the obituary from the Guardian newspaper (1929)
Write each of the 3 reasons (why women gained the vote) on different piece of coloured paper. Write an explanation of how this factor helped women get the vote. Take away 1 card (any card). Explain why women WOULD NOT have gained the vote with the 2 remaining factors. Is 1 factor more important than the others? Explain your answer.

11 Plenary! Hold up the coloured paper with the most / least important factor for women getting the vote.
