2 Snacks Today we will talk about a few myths about snacks.
Does anybody know what a myth is? A myth is something that is not true.

3 Myth #1: Snacks Should Never Be Eaten
Young children do need snacks, especially when they are active. Good snacks help give your body a “boost” between meals. You should not eat so many snacks that you would not eat your regular meals. It’s not good to eat ONLY snacks.

4 Myth #2: Snacks Should Never Be Eaten Between Meals
Snacks between meals or after school can be perfectly healthy and good for you. Your stomach is smaller than an adults so you need to eat more often during the day.

5 Myth #3: Snacking is the Same as Eating “Junk” Food
Snacking does not have to be junk food. For example, a healthy snack you could eat is an apple with a piece of string cheese. Can you think of other healthy snacks?

6 Myth #4: Healthy Snacks Mean I Can Never Eat Candy
You can have candy bars, but it is not good to eat only those types of foods as snacks. You can have those types of snacks every now and then since they are not really healthy for you.

7 Myth #5: Snacking Causes Cavities
Just because they are snacks, does not mean that they cause cavities. Sugary snacks are not good for you. If you brush your teeth after eating sugary snacks, you should not get cavities.

8 Myth #6: Snacks Will Make You Overweight
Snacks eaten during the day between your regular meals will NOT make you overweight. The amount of snacks and the kind of snacks can make a difference.

9 Myth #7: If You Eat Snacks, You Will Ruin Your Appetite
If snacks are eaten between meals to give you energy then they will not ruin your appetite. Also if the snacks are healthy, they will not ruin your appetite.
