4 The License Event Notification Service (LENS) can supply important information about the driving qualifications of drivers that you employ or regulate. Organizations that use LENS can quickly identify their problem drivers, and focus efforts to improve safety and decrease vulnerability

5 Allowing an unsafe or unqualified person to drive your organization’s vehicle can be very costly.

6 . LENS is an automated reporting system. It reviews the driver license records of your organization’s drivers and reports changes to you by , on DMV business days. After you establish a roster of drivers in LENS, it will automatically notify you of driver license events as they post to your drivers’ records. LENS can notify your organization about

7 the expiration and renewal of a driver license
the suspension, revocation and restoration of a driver license changes to a driver license class and privilege traffic convictions reportable accidents driver license suspension and revocation orders completion of a training course to reduce insurance premiums changes to HazMat (Hazardous Material) endorsements changes to MedCert (Medical Certification) status

10 LENS has two types of customers: exempt and paying
LENS has two types of customers: exempt and paying. Exempt customers are local, state and federal governmental units, volunteer fire and ambulance corps and certain parties engaged in public defender work. Exempt customers pay no fees to use LENS. There are neither monthly nor annual fees for LENS customers.

12 How do you start? After DMV accepts your LENS registration, they will send your LENS customer number and your LENS username by . Their welcome message will provide instructions for selecting LENS notification types and for adding drivers to LENS.  For security, your LENS password will arrive separately by first-class mail. They will mail your password letter on the same day they send your welcome . Please wait for the password letter to arrive before attempting to log in to LENS.
