Week of September 12-16, 2016 E Important Information: The Recap: Here are a few of our highlights from last week: We… Talked about what we want in a teacher and a friend, and how we should act to get that kind of teacher and friend Reviewed some letters and letter sounds Played in the courtyard and playground Explored a few of our centers Learned more routines and expectations Practiced a fire drill PTO If you are interested in being the PTO Kindergarten Parent/Guardian, please Lara Swanner at Belts and Shoes Please don’t put a belt on your child, this can cause accidents. Tie your child’s shoes in TIGHT, double knots or send them in shoes that Velcro. This makes life so much easier for us!! Thanks!!! We will begin checking out books this week! We do not buy concessions at lunch. Please don’t send money in pockets. Also, please don’t send your child with jewelry on. Dinner Theatre (Show and Tell) We will begin dinner theater THIS WEEK! Your child must remember what color table they sit at. MONDAY-Red; TUESDAY-Blue; WEDNESDAY-Yellow; THURSDAY-Green; FRIDAY-Purple & Orange We will send blankets and/or nap mat covers home on Friday.  Please wash and send back to school on Monday. Please turn in supply fee if you haven’t done so. Snack: Monday: Jaiden James Tuesday: London Wednesday: Marc Thursday: Harley Friday: Jerome Next Monday: Jeremy Next Tuesday: Akenya Please send in 22 individually wrapped snacks and juice boxes/waters. E Important Dates: September 12th: School pictures (student wears uniform) September 28th: Report Cards September 21st- Spirit shirt orders due September 30th: Fair day-no school Homework: Have your child practice writing their name using the formation chart and lined paper every day. This will be sent home Monday 9/12/16. This is due Friday 9/16/16! Our daily homework assignment is to read the book(s) your child brings home. You will record this reading on your child’s Reading Log. You will use ONE line per day. If you read more books that you have at home and the titles will fit on one line, you do not have to list all of them. When your child completes a Reading Log, he or she receives TEN CHIPS for his or her team, and then gets a new Reading Log. Please check your child's folder for extra nightly homework. This homework will be on the return to school side. E What We’ll Be Up To In Class: Math: We will be exploring our calendar counting items in quantities 0-10 rote counting to 10 Positional words Counting backwards from 10. Literacy: reviewing letters and letter sounds practicing spelling/writing our name Using our dry erase boards to practice some letter formation. We will focus on writing our first names. Months of the year and days of the week. Unit of Inquiry: We will begin to use the word community to describe our room. We will discuss what makes a good community member as we establish our classroom Essential Agreements. These agreements are a part of the IB. We will decide together how we want to treat each other in our room. We will sign our names to show our agreement.
